Night Work, obesity and diseases
The night shift at work is strenuous and can result in health problems such as obesity and cardiovascular disease risks may be much greater than previously thought, according to a recent study.

The study conducted by Harvard University in Boston and published in the online edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows that there is an increased risk of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease among night shift workers.
Night work on the grounds that blood leptin levels are reduced, which increases the risk of obesity and other long-term symptoms include a higher level of hormone stress cortisol and increased blood pressure, according to the report.

The results of two studies on work in night shifts, published in 2001, also suggested an increased risk of developing breast cancer in women, possibly because prolonged exposure to light at night, which interferes with production melatonin, a hormone produced in response to darkness.
Other data also suggested that a rotating night shift work, at least three nights a month for 15 years or more may increase the risk of colorectal cancer in women.
People who work night shifts but can do much to minimize the negative effects on the body, so they let some tips:
- Sleep in a dark environment during the day can improve sleep.
- Drink less fluids before bedtime, avoid alcohol and coffee.
- Exercise regularly and sleep after work.
- Just eat light meals during the night and avoid large meals before bedtime.
